Steve Gunderson, a former eight-term congressman who represented Wisconsin's western border area, was named today as president and chief executive of the National Council on Foundations.
Gunderson, 54, who did not seek re-election in 1996, is managing director of the Washington office of the Greystone Group, a Michigan-based management and communications consulting firm.
He succeeds Dorothy S. Ridings, who has served since 1996 as head of the council, a worldwide membership organization of 2,000 grantmaking foundations and corporations.
