http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/01/012306flaAmend.htmWith only about a week left organizers of a proposed amendment to prevent same-sex marriage in Florida remain several hundred thousand signatures short of the requirement.
Members of the group Florida-4-Marriage say they have collected about 300,000 of the approximately 600,000 signatures needed for a vote on the amendment in November.
This weekend the organization began sending letters to all 67 county election supervisors warning them to expect a late-month deluge.
But, even if there is a sudden rush by voters to sign the petitions they may not get counted. Clerks say they already are deluged with work. Some have not finished counting those petitions already turned in.
score one for the good guys and gals!
:woohoo:
