Israeli Political Party Endorses Gay Marriage

(Jerusalem) The leader of the left of center party Meretz has given Israel's ay community his pledge he will support legislation to allow same-sex couples to marry.

Party chair Yossi Beilin made the promise during a meeting with other members of the party and Tel Aviv's gays.

Beilin said that civil marriage must include gay and lesbian couples and as the party heads into the final campaign swing for this month's election it has unveiled stickers which say: "the voice of groom and groom," and "the voice of bride and bride," alluding to the Jewish marriage song, as part of their campaign.
