3. Boxer can K.O. the Terminator

The best thing Boxer can do is to announce she's running for governor in 2006. She can beat the SH#T out of Schwarzenegger, which is just what Democrats need---a high profile victory. Can you imagine the embarrassment for Republicans everywhere? Tiny Boxer exterminating the Terminator... She's the only person in California who can do it with no trouble. Let's don't extrapolate that because she tore Rice a new one in the Senate confirmation hearings that she could win the presidential election in 2008. Besides, she would be a more formidable presidential candidate as governor of California than as a US senator. We all know the odds of liberal Democratic senators winning presidential races.

6. Good strategy

The last Senator elected President was Pres. Kennedy, whereas 4 of the last 5 (including that present thing) were governors first. It actually makes sense, as a governor is (as it were) president of a state (far fewer powers, but still working in an executive system).

7. Barbara was going to run for gov.

This was back in 2001 before the 9/11 attacks. She felt that she should stay in the senate after that.

I'd love for Babara to be Gov, but I think she's happy where she is.

I don't know if we would want to see a Democratic Senate seat lost.

Certainly would be a cruel irony if Democrat Senator (especially a Boxer) won an election, but a lame-duck repub. governor chose her replacement.

After hearing outrage and concern from many of us in the GLBT community, receiving a letter requesting clarification from Alice, meeting with the Human Rights Campaign in person in Washington, DC, meeting via district staff with the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, and recognizing the grave concern we had over her statements back in February regarding the same-sex marriages occuring at City Hall, Senator Barbara Boxer has reaffirmed her commitment to the GLBT community.

Senator Boxer issued the following statement: "I support full equality for all couples, regardless of the gender of the individuals. I believe that both different sex and same-sex couples should have the same rights, protections, and benefits as well as the same responsibilities under state and federal law. We at Alice are pleased by Senator Boxer's statement and her admission that she was mistaken about California law. Now we want to get back out there and support her re-election to the United States Senate.

My personal dream ticket. Boxer/Obama 2008. Although I'd be happy enough it was Obama/Boxer in 2008.
