| A big THANKS to all the medical people who read this forum |
|
My daughter had a cough/low fever for 10 days, the call-in-nurse had me bring her in to see the doctor. The doctor was patient, kind and sympathetic, gave us a prescription for antibiotics (I worked once at the first fermentation facility that produced penicillin- the old staff used to tell us stories about boarding planes and taking the precious substances to royalty around the world back in the early 50's) as even though her lungs sounded clear, she was lethargic and one ear was looking dicey..., the pharmacy staff was professional, and cheerful to my daughter. We began the antibiotics and then my daughter's fever really spiked and she went into agony with a terrible headache and neck stiffness. The advice nurse had us come back to make sure it wasn't meningitis- thank goodness it was not, but she now had an audible crackling in one lung. The antibiotic she was on was the one they give for pneumonia anyway and so we all calmed down and let the antibiotic work. It did, the fever has been gone for 36 hrs and she is beginning to be her normal self.
So, I am grateful to all the fine medical people who made such a difference to us this past week. Treating us like royalty were treated when I was a babe.
And grateful for antibiotics that work- and all the folks working in that industry, sterilizing the vessels and tanks and doing the inoculations at 2 am, etc (I know, I had that job once as well)
Thanks. Know that people appreciate your dedication and kindness. Even when you don't feel like it or feel sick yourself.
