Gilgoff’s point is that Dobson is the most powerful evangelical in America and to a large extent deserves credit for the recent resurgence of the religious right, the election of President Bush, and the success of the “values agenda” in states across the country. Not that this is news, but Gilgoff’s exhaustive research is incredibly valuable.
