| 12. I dated a woman in college who was really good at gelato |
|
She was a psych major with a minor in math, and I believe that she would have said that an odd number, by definition, is not-even. Therefore a positive, whole number that is not-even cannot also be even.
She also mentioned offhandedly that it's tacky and narcissistic to kick one's own threads after they've lain dormant for several weeks.

| 13. Did she say anything about open and closed sets in various topologies? |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-17-10 12:50 PM by Boojatta
I hear that, in some topological spaces, no set is both open and closed, but that the general definitions provide no such guarantee and that in some topological spaces there are clopen sets: sets that are simultaneously open and closed. Of course, that's mere hearsay. Perhaps the woman you mention could participate in this thread and share some actual knowledge (I presume that there is a contrast between knowledge and hearsay).
