My friends and I were riding past a woman who was walking her dog. The dog stopped to sniff something as dogs are wont to do and the woman yanked it by the leash, then hit it and bent over to yell at it while holding it firmly by the fur around its neck. My friend wanted to tell the woman off but we couldn't pull over in time and there were cars behind us so we had to keep going.
Why do people get "pets" if they have no patience for normal behavior and feel the need to abuse them to try to get them to be compliant with the human's whims? :grr:
1. They graduate to doing the same to thier kids for acting like kids.
The sad thing is when that dog does the normal and understandable thing and bites her crazy ass, the dog's either going to be put down, abandoned or left to languish in the yard with almost no contact.
If a person can't tolerate an animal that they have to attend to for a few minutes to an hour or so a day they must be terrible with kids who need significant care from morning till night (and sometimes during the night).
5. We'd love to have some animals, but our kids are too young
right now and my oldest is autistic. My hands are already too full without having to think about caring for and properly loving a pet. We have decided to wait until our youngest is a wee bit older and can help.
7. If only more people were as rational and logical as you
Most of them just take on a pet like they would a TV or a new piece of furniture. An animal is a living being who needs lots of care and love, and can't just be tossed aside when you're tired or un-interested.
