2. ...is an essential nutrient
Is the cartoon supposed to be suggesting that for a person to be normal/thin, they shouldn't eat meat?
:hi:

4. I took it as commentary
on the fact that we (veg*ns in general) get asked that particular question fairly often within a culture that sees meat as a 'superior' protein while it ignores the bad stuff that often goes along with it.

8. Thanks!
I especially noticed that the kid in the cartoon was eating fried chicken (fat/transfat, sodium) and drinking milk (fat, excessive protein, hormones/antibiotics).

Ew.

11. What do you mean by "excessive protein"?
Tofu is richer in protein than cow's milk. Does that mean tofu has "excessive protein"?

13. Different kinds of protein.
Tofu is generally lower in sulphur-containing amino acids and so less likely to lead to acidosis (and calcium depletion). It also tends to be higher in magnesium, which makes calcium more bioavailable.

When I typed the post you responded to, I was thinking mostly about the protein--calcium connection and the 'milk builds strong bones' campaigns by the dairy industry. Sorry I wasn't clear about that.

14. Thanks for clearing that up
I would say the same thing about the fat in milk. Whole milk is high in fat, which adult mammals really don't need. But the bigger problem, nutritionally, is that milkfat is made up mostly of saturated fats, with all of their attendant negative health affects.

9. Sure.
I think we've all been asked that question more than once, so it becomes kind of a joke in itself.

17. As I understand it, if you overeat on a veggie/vegan diet . . .
your body will turn the calories into protein and then into body muscle ---

Animal fat just sits on your body and is near impossible to get rid of ---

PLUS -- specifically re breast cancers -- they believe that your immune system
can't detect cancer cells thru the animal fat ---

you have thousands of cancer cells circulating in your body at all times ---

16. Good protein: vegs/fruits Bad protein: animal products THINK WHAT THIS IS . . .
the recurring question which people are being taught to shut their minds to veggie/Vegan
eating --

It's propaganda which stops them from thinking --- !!!
