| I'm done with Boca Chik'n burgers & their other burgers, too. |
|
So my HFS has a new type of Boca chik'n -- a natural one. Not sure exactly what makes such a processed product natural -- the organic soy, I guess. I thought what the heck & tossed it in the cart. From past experience, I remembered to read the label & guess what? Egg whites. Arghh! All of the Boca natural chik'n products have egg whites in them. x(
Just as well. Don't know about your neck of the woods, but Boca products have gone up drastically in the past few months. One store used to put them on sale, two boxes for $5. Not a bad price. They are now $3.69 per box & haven't been on sale since the price increase.
So, I've switched to Fantastic Food's nature burger mix instead. A little more time up front, but I get 6 big sized burgers for less than $2 & avoid all that processed stuff. And they are quite tasty! :9

very inexpensive and quick meal ingredient.
Best thing about it are all the condiments!

Guess I'll have to go to the evil Whole Foods. I hate that store.

| 3. Boca's owned by Kraft now. |
|
And Kraft is pro-GMO ingredients and doesn't think labeling is necessary: _link_ and _link_.
I've been boycotting Kraft for years and avoid Boca products for that reason alone.

| 4. a lot of this convenience vegan/veggie food is junk food |
|
it just has a different label on it IMO. You might as well go to a discount food store and buy their frozen food and eat it.
These convenience foods being sold are loaded with rather large quantities of sugar for one thing. Also loaded with things like gluten (from where?) and many other things that are highly fermented, not necessarily organic, etc.
I think it is best to bite the bullet and eat what you cook from scratch.
Many of these "recipes" floating around all contain sugar in some form.
I learned this lesson the hard way as I have an infection in my stomach and intestines still and am on a highly restricted diet which excludes sugar, dairy, fermented foods, etc.
Thanksgiving was a nightmare. There was very little I could eat.
I plan on buying no more of Annie's frozen dinners, etc. that is for sure. What a wake-up call this whole thing has been!

is the best I've ever tried...hands down! And it's not made with soy for those who have issues there. (Some varieties of their burgers are made with soy so you need to check the labels.) It does contain wheat gluten so celiacs won't find these a good option.
