...looks like flvegan is going to have a new in-state neighbor.... Michael Vick Buys Place in Florida -- Bankruptcy Coming Next?..."why would Vick want to spend money on real estate now, when he's got mounting legal bills, banks coming after him to collect on loans, and an arbitrator ruling that he has to re-pay nearly $20 million in bonus money he's already received from the Falcons?
The answer could be that Vick is planning to file for bankruptcy. Florida's bankruptcy laws would make it easier for Vick to keep a home in Florida than it would be for him to keep a home in Georgia. As the Wall Street Journal has noted, "The state's lenient bankruptcy laws have long made the state a destination for debtors on the run." Vick may be the latest to take advantage of those lenient laws."http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/10/25/michael-vick-buys-place-in-florida-bankruptcy-coming-next/

There goes the "he's only a backwoods southern-fried country boy and doesn't know any better" defense.
The upside- I can't imagine they allow pets.

True enough. Hey, my parents just bought a condo in St. Pete to spend the winters down there. They had to go before the board of the association in the condos they're moving in to, so that the board could stress that "no animals are allowed!". Anywho, my parents will not part with their cats for half a year, and have come up with a devious plan, which could only be described by the Blackadder who said, "I have come up with a plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a weasel."

$1.25 million, right on the water. Not bad, dog fighter.
And yes, our bky laws are very tough. Homestead property can't be touched (OJ, anyone?).
As LeftyMom stated, he probably can't have pets. Additionally, Miami-Dade county has had a pitbull ban in place for some time. Doesn't mean he isn't a couple hours worth of travel to "some action" in this state.

me filing a lien on his property as a friend of the court. See, his mortgage (for $1 million) was recorded without a legal description, and then subsequently rerecorded without re-executing same. Technically that mortgage doesn't stand, having not acknowledged the property he was encumbering. My lien would therefore be superior to his mortgage. Should he want/need to refinance, they'd have to pay me off or get my lien set aside in court. That, or they'd have to file an action to reform the mortgage to its intended date.
Edited to add: I could also assign those lien rights to the caretakers of those dogs who could subsequently foreclose on the lien, wipe out the mortgage and own it free and clear. A final fuck you to Vick.
Either way, it's a rather ingenious way to be a big fucking pain in his ass, proving once again what an evil little shit I am.
