| Converting WMVs into Quicktime? |
|
Is there a way to convert WMV files into Quicktime? I have some "WMV3" clips that won't play on my 10.3.8 Powermac G4.

Actually a front-end for ffmpeg. You can grab it via http://versiontracker.com

| 6. I have it, but I was just trying out VLC to see how well it |
|
worked. I hate using MS software, so if VLC worked, I wouldn't need WMA.

| 7. ffmpeg is the best converter around |
|
though it can be a bear to install. then you gotta convert all the wm movs before you can watch them =(
i think i spoke to soon about VLC being able to handle windows files, sorry bout that... but it can play most of the files, QT, WMP, RP can't on os x.
i am glad they make a windows player for the mac though =)

| 8. I should probably elaborate. |
|
I have these particular WMV3 files that won't play video, even on VLC. I can hear the audio, but the video doesn't play. VLC then shows me a message that says it can't play the video because it's a WMV3. I tried FFmpeg, but I'd rather not go through all the extra downloads.
However, I think Windows Media Player 9 (for OS X) might play these particular files without converting them, but when I download the .bin file, Aladdin creates a .sitx file, which doesn't show the installer. I have no idea how to access the WMP installer from there. Any advice? Thanks again.

| 9. You have to unstuff the .sitx with Stuffit... |
|
Unfortunately, Stuffit makes you jump through many hoops to download the software, so here is the link: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12012
