| Firewall/security for Mac powerbook with DSL |
|
Hi - I have finally gotten a DSL line established on my Powerbook G4, but I know I need some kind of a firewall.
Can anyone recommend a free program for Mac (running Tiger), or recommend a reliable program (I'll pay for security if necessary)?
With appreciation for this forum, SpiralHawk

| 1. You've already got it with Tiger |
|
Do this:
1. Select System Preferences/Sharing/Firewall. 2. Start Firewall.

just go in the sharing prefs and turn it on. open the ports you want visible to the outside.
also if you have a dsl router it has a firewall.

| 3. Thanks for your responses. I have learned all that this week the hard way |

Tried to download Norton's firewall, but it was a total disaster from start through refund application. Many local Mac cognecenti have clued me in that what I have already in Tiger 10.4.1 is just fine.
Happy puting, SH
