Question about the New Intel Processors?

Can anyone tell me why they are better than the IBM chips?

i will assume so.

from my understanding, the move to intel was driven because the G5 couldnt be made cool enough or low power enough for the laptops. intels duo core left them in the dust in that regard. Rather than proceeding on multiple processors, apple is migrating the entire line to intel.

2. I see Specs that Say

the new intel has sped up their lap tops 4-6 times it's older speeds. What I want to know is, is this true?

6. remember the new boards have dual core processors

running at a faster speed and with faster bus speed.

the benchmarks ive seen dont show 4-6 times faster but they are much faster, smaller, use less power and generate less heat.

Intel is more focused on the desktop and laptops than IBM and Motorola.

4. But are the Intel Processesors superior?

I am hoping they are, I'm just seeing how much is hype, and how much isn't hype. I have read elsewhere that the Intel chips are very fast.

5. They are very good. Even if they weren't better, what good is a chip

you can't get? IBM could be making the best chip in the world, but if they can't ramp up to meet demand, what good are they?

This was considered a public relations problem for IBM, since the decision was made in part by their inability to match Intel and other competitors in terms of speed and architecture improvements. This effectively ended the AIM alliance with IBM continuing to use and evolve the PowerPC processor on game consoles and Freescale Semiconductor focusing solely on embedded devices.

9. Very Much Appreciated, Actually

It's not more than I wanted, it's right on! Things look good for Apple, and that makes me happy. They have always had good products and I have been using Apple for about 10 years now. I love the direction they are going in. My next upgrade will be another MAC. I need a new workstation.

and the fact that they tightly control software and hardware integration.

they also approach everything with high regard to both functionality and aestetics.
