| Does anybody here have a Mac Mini (non-Intel) |
|
When I use FireFox and view YouTube videos, the system fan goes full blast, even if the video is paused.
It does it less frequently when I use Safari.
Has that been your experience?
Thanks!
PS: I have the 1.42GHz, with 1GB of memory.

| 1. I had one of those for a few months |

but never remember the fan acting like yours. Also, I used Camino rather than FireFox or Safari. Download something such as temperature monitor (freeware) and check back later with the readings.

| 2. I have an early mini too |
|
1.25 ghz w/ 1 gb ram.
I've noticed the fan more in recent weeks, but I hadn't noticed a youtube connection. It seems more random. I've been surprised to hear the fan because I run off an external boot drive.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications/Utilities. Look for an app that's taking a bunch of cpu percentage. That's likely the culprit. Quit that app or process in activity monitor and the fan should slow to normal.

| 4. Flash is just horrible on OS X.. |
|
It really taxes the system. It shouldn't hurt anything, it is just loud.
I would suggest updating Flash if you are running a older version. It still sucks, but it sucks less then it did a few years ago.
