Does anybody use the speech functions on your Mac?

I haven't really been bothered with them before, but a discussion on a fan board I frequent changed my mind. One poster was talking about having a Windoze theme with our favorite actor's voice activated on certain functions. LOL.
So I got curious and turned mine on. Very clever. It now announces the hour and I have highlight and have text read to me. Oh and sw update will also announce itself the next time. Playing back certain DU posts is definitely funny. What's amusing are all the different voices you can use.
If you have to use it for visual impairment, that's cool. It's just a feature I really hadn't explored before.
If you've got tips, let's hear 'em! :D

1. I have mine announcing the hour, but that's it.

No tips. It is fun to listen to all the different voices and I like how you can speed them up or slow them down. If you get them paced just right they can sound pretty good. Some of the voices are pretty funny.

I played it them a bit, but got bored and turned it off.
Didn't delete it completely though; I have some ideas for prank calls impersonating Steven Hawking that I might put into effect some day.

4. Try speakable items. Ask it to tell you a joke.

You can find that in System preferences.
