| Service history and serial numbers |
|
I bought a used Macbook in July off Ebay and at the time it was a year old. The owner said he had the battery replaced but didnt specify a date. It appears the "new" battery is dead and needs to be replaced. Using my serial number (4H61905FVMM) can I see the service history for this laptop? Can I find out the exact date it was sold?
Since its over a year old I guess its no longer under warranty since the original owner didnt purchase AppleCare. Do you reckon I can still get Apple to replace the battery if its "faulty" i.e. it didnt die due to normal wear-and-tear? Judging from other poster's experiences, they seem to be very customer-friendly so Im keeping my fingers crossed :)

| 1. I don't think you can find the service history |

But you can find the purchase date and any support coverage. Go to Apple's support front page: http://www.apple.com/support/and look for "about your support coverage". There were some dodgy MacBook batteries, and if yours is one Apple will replace it: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/
