| Well isn't this special? Apple locks out dissenting views! |
|
I am posting this mostly to make all of you "Apple fanatics" aware that the company you worship is really just another corporate whore! Background: I am a music junkie--I can't rest until I have the latest version of albums I love. I have a huge music collection, and really, this is my biggest hobby. Therefore, I was dismayed, then angered, and finally outraged when I couldn't download my Bruce Springsteen "Magic" album pre-order from iTunes UNTIL TWO full days after the album was released to the general public. What a debacle!
Anyway, bottom line, Apple is human just like all of us. They make mistakes, we all do! But the vicious way they erased any thread in their forums that was critical of their business savvy (based upon the Bruce Springsteen debacle) is nonsense. They're as afraid of criticism as Dubya! Go figure!
So that's just my FYI for the day. Buyer beware--Apple can act like "Microsoft" given the chance!

I could regale you with plenty of stories on the horrors I have seen from gaming companies
By the way, I don't worship Apple, I just want a tool that works.
Guess what? Vista does not do the job very well... and I am posting right now from my new spanking macbook.
Why? I didn't want to suffer through another vista debacle
I do IT here, and trust me, it has been all but painless
Is Apple great? Nope, in fact the attitude of the store employee when I asked about crossover almost broke the deal... illegal my ass.
But the guys at best buys had a great deal. And here I am, posting oh half an hour after getting a new machine without all the hassles I had with getting Vistal to run
My rule of thumb is... no company is perfect and all companies will do stooopid things that will annoy customers.

I think all computer companies have a place in this world. Windows-based and Apple-based! I actually have had no problem with Vista (I have a new laptop running it and I love it!--No problems with it what so ever for me!)--but I know that every person has a different experience! I have tried to help many people get comfortable with their operating system. In my experience--it's more the user than the operating system! Do you agree?
Anyway, I'm just sad that Apple dissed me and deleted one of my threads because I was angry that I couldn't download the Springsteen album ahead of the many johnny-come-lately's! The lesson I learned from all of this is: NEVER--EVER--PRE-Order an album from the Apple iTunes store. Just download it on the day it becomes available and you'll be good to go!

| 3. Try to install dreamweaver and then |

come back to me
And i am VERY familiar with computers
Now your experience, as I said, I have seen it before.
I could mention the guilty parties by name... but this is common behavior when a company does something that somebody up in management knows they should not have done. It falls under the ooops category and the if the boss learns of it I may loose my job or my christmas bonus.
And the every so popular if we hide this and delete threads assiduously nobody will know about it. In reality it makes the situation far worst, but that is a whole different story
I am almost willing to bet that this was a mid level manager giving the order, and it was wrong. But I am not shocked, surprised, or angry by that behavior any longer
Your choice, and there are products I don't buy any longer because of situations that are far worst than Apple releasing something late and trying to hide it, is to either punish then with your buying power, or not. So you may want to close your wallet, if you are angry enough. Mind you, if enough folks do it, the message is sent. The chances of that happening are next to nill, but hey... those are your choices.
Yes, it is that simple.

| 6. Was that deleted thread full of insults like "the company you worship" as well? |
|
I have a feeling there might be some very VALID reasons the thread you posted in anger there was removed.

| 4. Was that because Apple didn't want to release it then or the record company |

| 5. And contractually Apple may not be able to confirm or deny that |
|
I still suspect it was an oops somewhere in the chain, at somebody's level...
And as you said, it may be the music company or apple
The drama though is not necessary...
And I have seen worst things done by companies, both small and large... and I just buy from them any more
As I told him, that is his choice
