| Well I do love my new Macbook |
|
it is nice, it is shimy and it works well
But... I fear I know one reason why Apple is not penetrating more markets
Their customer support SUCKS major time.
Registering my Apple Care was a pain.
Yes, I did buy a demo unit from Small Dogs. (I have bought floor models for years, my HPC IS a floor unit for example) but registering apple care just took two days of going back and forth since some employees were extremely bad listeners.
They really need to get some kids at Cupertino that can listen
I am impressed with the hardware (well from googling the internets the magsafe might have issues), I am definitnely inpressed with the software... it is nice NOT to have to fight the OS. But their customer service does leave some to be desired
I had some less than good experiences at the local apple store and now registering my apple care
I just hope I don't need to use it
:-)
Now back to work...
I guess all companies have issues, well I knew that, I am cynical about that to the hilt any longer

| 2. Why did you have to interact with humans? |
|
I recently bought AppleCare for my iMac, since it was coming up to end of warranty (I don't usually bother with extended warranties, but this box has already had a new display panel, which is very pricey). Registering it was just a few clicks online: no phone calls involved.
I've heard that the magsafe can eventually suffer loss of springiness on the pins, but if and when that happens you just replace it. Much cheaper than replacing the laptop: my magsafe has already saved me from dragging the laptop off my desk more than once.

| 3. Because it was an "open box" so they would not |

allow me to do it online. I actually had to interact with human beings
:-)
Now to the magsafe... there are even photos on the interwebs of magsafes failing all the way to small fires at the junction between the magnets and the wire.
And that is cheap wire, as in really cheap wire
:-)
And yes, if that happens it means we get a new magsafe... and because of those photos it does not stay connected to the computer at night.

Aberation. I have never once had a problem dealing with applecare, and infact found them all to be pleasant experiences that solved the problem I was having on the first try.
