| What's for dinner? ~ Tuesday April 14th Edition |
|
We've had a big change in the household, so my menus should be changing quite a bit now.
Bill is a carpenter and web designer normally, but his brother needs help with his restaurant, so he is going to be gone from lunch through dinner most days... so I may be changing things up a bit, food-wise.
I have no idea what I'll have tonight yet. I'm think omlette and some fresh Ain5 right now though...
What's for dinner where you are?

you WILL have a big change at your house. I hope it makes things easier, not more difficult - you have enough on your plate as it is... er... you know what I mean...
Tonight - we'll have sauteed onions and mushrooms over grilled steak tip and a big caesar salad and a fresh Ain5 baguette.
Does this mean that Bill could bring you a different dinner every night? Save on clean up!

| 2. LOL ~ Your's sounds delicious! I have my bread in the oven, beyond that it's still unknown. |
|
He probably could bring dinner, we live very close by, but they have been insanely busy so it would probably be at weird times, and I have to take meds... Plus I like to cook, so I just need to rethink it all.
We've always cooked our protein in bulk and made multiple meals, which still works, but I'm not sure I want quite that much meaty goodness. Fortunately, the produce will be getting good soon, so I can go with more pasta and salads and fresh fruit sorbets.

| 4. We has chicken and broccoli fettucine |
|
I love it when I call AALette down for dinner, she spies the fettucine and jumps up and down and claps. "My favorite!"
Um, she does this for many things I make, not just the fettucine. ;)
If I had been thinking I would have also added some Ain5. I have a new batch mixed and in the fridge. I now have to get myself into the habit of actually taking some out! :D

| 9. I have to make myself wait the three days, so ours never just sits waiting. LOL |
|
We really prefer it at day 3 and beyond, but every now and again I cook it the second day after mixing. It's still great, even cooked "too soon" because I save a little old dough and mix it in each new batch.
Your fettucine sounds yummy!

I was nearly falling asleep at my desk. So I just stopped and picked up cheap Chinese. Too tired and sore to cook tonight.
How are you doing. I wished we lived closer so I could help out when you're having bad days and Bill has to be gone. Would be fun to cook together, too.

| 6. minute steaks and potatoes gratin |
|
But no, I don't think this potato dish is a good candidate for the "competition". Not like I thought it would be. It's got carrots and potatoes and onions but there isn't much sauce to it.

| 14. basically all you do is: |
|
Precook some onions, garlic and carrots in oil in a large skillet (one large onion and four carrots and garlic to taste). In another pan simmer one and a half cups of stock with a large bay leaf. Meanwhile, peel three medium potatoes and slice thin.
Then layer it all in a buttered 8x10 dish, sprinkling in some salt, pepper and thyme. Cover with foil and bake a half hour, then take the foil off and bake it a while longer until golden and tender.
I threw on some cheese at the last minute to make a topping. It's also supposed to have bacon in it, but I skipped that and sprinkled in a few Baco bits instead for a little smoked flavor.

It doesn't have to have only potatoes. And it's not a competition. LOL Just everyone finding or creating, and sharing recipes. :hi:
