Not ONE SINGLE post on Morels?
egads! I came to DU looking for advice on how to cook my half pound of little beauties and found not one...single...thread. What am I to do with you people? These guys aren't gonna cook themselves.

Ive heard to roll them in egg, a little bisquick, and quick fry in butter. Even die hard fans say this is pretty good. Any other idears?

1. Dredged in flour and fried in butter. That's how my grandfather fixed them
when he picked them for us in NE years ago.

Bisquik sounds interesting. Be that would work fine. Just plunge in and sxperiment.

2. Here a great recipe:
1) Rinse and carefully pat morels dry
2) Layer carefully in a box with parchment paper
3) Overnight mail box to beac

;)

But seriously, here's one I like when I can get my hands on the little treasures: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Asparagus-with-Morels-and-Tarragon-238445

(Good w/ or w/out the asparagus. I've also added cream for extra decadence and served over fresh pasta.)

3. My husband just came home with a little bag of Morels
He likes them just soaked in salt water for a little while, dried on towel and then sliced and fried up in a little butter. I like them growing in the woods where fungus belongs :)

4. I want some!
Morels were the first mushrooms I ever tasted, gathered by my mother and her friend from the nearby woods. Cooked just as you describe, we had a huge platter of them and wolfed them down like the delicacy they are. I've only had them a few times since then owing to living in a densely populated area. Never seen them in grocers locally, but am always on the lookout for morels. A person can never forget a taste that good.

5. My Mom used to dredge them in egg and soda crack crumbs
and then fry in butter. Delish!
