| Penzey's soup bases arrived today |
|
I ordered the Pork and Seafood bases and they're what I hoped for. The pork is a mild, understated fresh pork flavor and the seafood packs a seafood wallop. I'm totally satisfied and very glad that I have them.
I like making a few soups with fresh pork but really don't like all the boiling and skimming of the meat. This makes my lima bean soup pretty much a one step deal when I use canned limas. And the seafood base is going to be an adventure. I was just planning on making a simple fish soup. But the burst of flavor I got from a tiny taste makes me want to start Googling for lots of different recipes to experiment.
They also sent a complimentary jar of Ozark dry seasoning. Very nice. Not too hot and full of flavor that tastes like no other seasoning combo I've got in my kitchen.

I just sit there & want to order everything. I love the blends, (southwest, mexican, seafood, etc) but for a single spice, I mostly buy bulk.

But nothing like your 100+ temps. Wow! Earlier, I was looking at some small above ground soft pools to soak in for when it heats way up around here. If it doesn't need complicated installation, I can convince the mister. To be continued...
I'll be around this weekend, too. The mountains are just too crowded these holiday weekends for us. Still need to shop for bbq'ing in the yard. I'll get out tomorrow and pick up a few things. See ya around the forums!

| 7. Can you tell me about the sodium content of them? |

I recently ordered from Penzy's online and I was very pleased. Great prices on peppercorns and some other spices I use frequently.

| 10. I'm not so into curries - but... |
|
So many people have shared recipes and sung curry praises. Next time I order from Penzeys, I'll get a smnall jar. So far, I like the three out of three things form them, so how could I go wrong.

I have the chicken soup base. It's very handy.
When I make chowdah, I use fish stock instead of water. Penzey's fish stock base should work great.
