| Good news regarding my-too-early-wayward son--he's back |
|
(figuratively). This is the kid who took off after school, lied, forged my name, went with a child he didn't even know to the mini-mart--ON THE FREEWAY, was getting in solid trouble at school. He isn't even 8 yet.
We just put the hammer down on him, and it's still down. It seems to be "taking" this time. I'm sure it didn't hurt that mommy had heart trouble and ended up in the hospital a few weeks ago, but if anything, I thought that would push him over the edge.
Nope; he's back to the wonderful, loving, happy, fun-loving little boy I know and love.
Thank the Administrators for this wonderful group and to all of you. Had I had to post my troubles in the Lounge all hell would have broken loose, but here I got nothing but caring, advice, and support. I can't thank those involved enough, I really can't.
You can't ever know what your stories, advice, and support meant for me. I'm choking up even as I type this... (happy, though!)

| 1. Wow.. I missed all of this.. Thank goodness he's safe:) |
|
Our middle son took off for FIVE DAYS when he was 12.. Her went surfing at San Onofre with a bunch of 18 & 19 yr olds.. Waltzed in 5 days later like he had been next door for a few minutes.. We had the highway patrol, sheriff's dept and police all looking for him.. Every time the phone rang, I was sure it would be someone asking us to ID a torso....
Wouldn't it be nice if they came with fast forward buttons ?:)
He's now 26 1/2, and on his own.. We always hoped that he would survive past 21.. We had a feeling that if he managed that, he'd be ok.. :)

Your little boy sounds like a livewire! My daughter calls it sparking things up. :) I read a certain "kid" thread earlier tonight and I'm still kind of shaking. Unbelievably vicious. This forum is wonderful. :grouphug:

| 3. I read t hat thread too... |

and that type of thing is one reason I have a low post count, even though I've been lurking around DU for a long time. I just don't have time in my life for that kind of negativity. This forum will encourage me to post more, it is full of helpful, reasonable people! :D

| 6. I mostly lurk these days, too. |

I post here, in Cooking and in my state forum where people seem to be mostly civil. I enjoy a good debate, but endless negativity is tedious.
Welcome! :hi:

| 8. I'm so glad to hear that everything is okay now! |
|
 I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you! Luckily 7-year-olds still generally want their parents approval and need their support and structure more than their peers.
More :hug:s to you for being in the hospital with heart problems! Are you okay now??

Not getting anywhere with a 15-yr.-old who has all the answers.
Glad to know that sometimes things work out.
