| Is this printer even going to work for me? |
|
Hello,
A friend gave me (I think) an HP DeskJet 890C to use with my Compaq Presario C700 laptop. However, he purchased the wrong cables. I was going to return them to Staples to get the proper cables, but first I checked online and I see that there are no software installation instructions for Windows Vista.
This printer is discontinued, and I don't know much about this stuff, but doesn't this mean that this particular printer is not going to work for me anyway? I would like feedback from the computer group before I go into someplace like Staples or Office Despot and possibly get shafted.
Thank you! :hi:

The HP website says there's a driver built-in to Vista that will allow this model to function.

the 890c. Unless your laptop has a parrallel port you will need this type of cable. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=USB2DB25M&cat=CBL

I would guess that for a laptop it would be a standard USB, that is flat USB plugs into the laptop and a larger, rectangular one with two cut off corners into the printer. They are cheap and available everywhere.
