Still can't stay logged into sites using IE8.

I usually use Firefox, but when I use IE8 I have to log in all over again on every forum or website. I have done searches on this issue, and it appears I am not the only one. The only answer I have seen from forums about IE8 is that nothing was changed.

Any ideas? I use C-Cleaner daily. I save cookies for sites like DU, etc. I even deleted the old ones and saved new cookies in IE8, and that doesn't work at all.

It is just annoying.

do you have auto complete settings correct? Not that I am a big fan of allowing that in my network or at home but it is an option if you so desire. It's under the content tab auto complete settings button in IE options.

2. I cleared it today.

I usually don't, but ccleaner has the option. I cleared everything in IE8, but left Firefox alone.

I am going to restart soon and see if it holds since I cleared everything. First I will log in again, then restart.

I like the auto complete on my home computer, since I am the only one who basically uses it at all.

3. Here's something...

IE8 has options in the "Safety" menu (I assume that's from the task bar menus).
Check to see if "In Private browsing" and "In Private filtering" is check marked.
Those are to prevent cookie storing.

If that doesn't solve it, another suggestion is to delete Windows prefetch file and index.dat.
index.dat has to be deleted in safe mode from a command prompt. It may be corrupted.
Both of those files are rebuilt automatically.

5. There is an option for In Private browsing and a way to choose the filters.

for various websites, but it appears to be optional.

I am going through the online settings under Tools now, checking again.

4. Is IE8 Safe?? I Keep Seeing That Windows Wants Me To Update To It...

I know IE7 had some problems at first and since I don't "no nothin techy" I have to rely on what others tell me.

Also, I was told to clear my files and cookies every week. I do it, but sometimes I get a message about cookies so I wonder about this.

6. IE8 seems much slower than 7

I've had it for only about 4-5 days now but it seems to take forever to open the browser or open a new tab.

The other thing driving me crazy is that I keep getting error messages that pages won't open for some reason on pages that open with no problem in Firefox.

7. I have a link from Microsoft that takes you back to IE7

I am still trying to give IE8 a chance because it is supposed to be so much safer, but I really don't like it.

8. Found the link to let Microsoft fix it by removing IE8

Easier than trying to do it yourself.

I have not done it yet, but getting fed up with having to keep logging in everywhere everyday.
