| 1. I haven't used Dolphin, but it looks like an excellent system |
|
But, it's built by those socialist commie Australians, so who knows how good it is? :)
My question is: do you use these packages with specialized hosting platforms? It would be very cool to setup a social networking site.

I'm pretty much of an idiot - :) - but I'm thinking I can use Blue Host. Dolphin seems much more ready to go right out of the gate, whereas elgg requires more programming help to get it to the point someone like me could work with it.

| 3. What about Joomla's various social networking/community platforms? |
|
I'm discovering there are a ton of these off-the-shelf or open source programs out there. It's hard to tell nowadays at the techie websites if the reviews are legit or essentially paid for by the products.
Just wondering if anyone here has experience or insight with stability and functionality of any of these programs.
Thanks! :)

| 4. RE: Joomla Social Networking |

We are in the midst of setting up World News Trust v3.0 with Azrul's JomSocial, MyBlog and other software. As well as a lot of others. We host on Dreamhost's virtual servers. Azrul's components, while not free, as in beer, are great and well supported and with the optomization plugins and the custom php.ini work we have had done, to get xcache working nice with ioncube(an abomination) and Zend(useless), we are gonna have a great website that screams on pageloads.
Look into all of it. Joomla is a fine platform.
