| I'm trying to re-formate and now it is saying the the DVD-R and CD are the wrong |
|
CD's. Did they make a new one just to confuse us?
I did the re-formatting thing several months ago with someone on the phone from Hewlett Packard. They showed me how you can re-format from your own computer and don't need the original CD
Hurry because my )*&)&%&** cursor is now jumping all over the place....which is the main reason I did this before.

means wiping the entire hard drive of all information. Therefore, you need an outside data source, not something that is on the computer. Mouse jumping should probably be diagnosed rather than reformatting, unless it is due to a virus that cannot be repaired.
Are those the HP installation CDs?
You have posted here about the mouse in the past, but didn't come back to let anyone know that it was still unresolved. Did the prior format resolve the mouse issue? Have you tried a new mouse?

an HP recovery partition. On the one and only HP desktop I used regularly, it came with XP pre-installed on C:\ and a D:\ partition which contained the recovery operating system. You had an option to burn I think, 6 cds using a piece of HP rubbish software and those were your backup system discs. The cheap buggers didn't even supply an OS disc.
Maraya - did the HP phone people get you to burn a set of CDs to use for reloading your computer? If so, did they work last time?

that any other method of format command would require a directory switch? HPs are fuzzy math.

an HP from either the recovery partition or the rescue discs. I assume you could reformat using a command line and the recovery partition but I believe HPs intent was for the user to have a set of self-made discs.

| 7. Yes when you start the process they tell you that it either takes 3-DVD-R(?) |
|
or 15 regular CD's. I went out and bought some DVD+R 's and it said I would need 15 of them. I thought I bought the right CD. This whole thing has been one big clusterfuck.

| 6. No they just said to back up my files and then they showed me over the phone |
|
how to do it. Now I see that there is a function under "system tools" that is "reformatting". I think that is what I used before.
