I can't stand the IE7 user interface, so I'm still on IE6.
Now YouTube keeps telling me they're phasing out the support for my browser and I must
move to IE8 or Firefox or Google Chrome.

I use Firefox for a lot of different stuff, but some Yahoo! games won't play in it and
one of my work sites requires that I have to upload files in IE.

So is there a trick so that I can get the File, Edit, View, Favorites GUI in the new IE?

Thanks.

1. Just last week I upgraded from IE6 to IE7

and upgraded from SP2 to SP3

and upgraded from Firefox 2.0.0.20 to 3.0.13

I was also getting those warnings from YouTube and figured it's time to just get it all done. So far, so good.

My sister had issues with IE8 and downgraded back to IE7.

2. speaking of interface hatred...
do you know of a way to turn OFF the tabbed browsing in IE7 or Firefox3.5? I hate when a tab displays at the top when there is only ONE TAB OPEN. It wastes real-estate on my screen and I cannot find an option to turn it off....

go down near the bottom where it says tab and clik on the settings button and change things to the way you like it.

Add: this is for ie7 or 8. I don't use firefox so I don't know how to do it there

4. It's nearly the same for FF
Tools --> Options --> Tabs --> Always show the tab bar. Untick.

because (in firefox) i have changed the setting for "always show tab bar" and it still never closes...with more than one tab or not. Hmmm...ok...will try an uninstall and reinstall...

6. I just unticked the option
and the next instance of FF I raise shows no tab bar. With no restart. It appears you do have something wonky going on.

Before you reinstall, you might want to try running a new profile. It's a quick way to determine if extensions or themes are boogering things up. Close Firefox, then open a CLI (Start --> Run --> cmd), then
firefox.exe -profilemanager
Create a new profile, start it, untick the tab option and see if it behaves correctly.

8. You know Firefox has an IE tab?
I use it all the time to see pictures that don't load in Firefox because I have blocked their origin sites.

9. I'm also a Luddite who's still with IE6.
I didn't like IE7, so I went back to IE6, which does everything I want. I'm hearing bad things about IE8, but I'm
getting warnings from various websites that support for IE6 will be phased out.

Does this mean that I won't be able to play youtube videos, etc.?

I tried Firefox, but there was something about it I didn't really like (can't remember what now), so I went back to
IE6.

10. I switched off of Firefox to Google Chrome.
Firefox kept blowing up on me as far as it would stop playing sound
randomly. Hated it.

So far I'm just thrilled with Chrome. It's clean, fast, and it plays
sound. The only thing Chrome doesn't do is play Netflix online movies.

I got the beta version because the official release doesn't support
themes and the default blue in Chrome is kind of ugly.
