| Windows 7 Upgrade vs Full Version? |
|
What are the differences, besides price? I'm currently running Vista Home Premium.

The installed OS is exactly the same.
One comes with a license that is only legal if you own Vista/XP the other has a license that is good if you don't.
If you own Vista or XP there is no reason not to get the upgrade. You can even do a full install (erase HD and install from bootable DVD) with the "upgrade" version.

| 2. If it's like Vista, which I believe it is, you can do a full install of Windows 7... |
|
...from the "Upgrade" media. Start the Install, then when you need to add the key, hit continue, and it will let you install it. Then, do another install, this time it will think it's upgrading a version already there (Oddly enough, it doesn't look to see which version you're actually upgrading) and allow you to install just like that. It worked for Vista, and I suspect it will work for Windows 7.
Sorry. I saw a shiny object and got distracted from your original question. There is NO difference as far as what is on the DVD between Windows 7 "Upgrade" and "Full Version". They are exactly the same.

| 4. You actually don't even need to do a double install with Vista. |

Edit: on further reading looks like I was wrong & Vista reinstall does require an existing install (200, XP or Vista) thus on an empty drive you need to do a double install. Stupid but looks like you are right.
