windows 7 problems

I can no longer use firefox and I hate explorer especially that bing nonsense. Can't set up any email programs except windows.live which I hate. Tech support for Firefox non-existant... It has wiped out my adobe programs...and I can't even install a demo copy. I am NOT PLEASED! This is on my HP PC I didn't have same problems with my Toshiba laptop.

1. Yikes

That doesn't sound like much fun. I upgraded my HP laptop that was running Vista to Win7 and I'm not experiencing any of those problems. Firefox is working just fine and so is my installation of Adobe Web Premium CS4. I'm now running IE8 and I just said no to Bing. It gave me a choice of search engines and I've got Google in the upper right corner. I'm not thrilled with Windows Live Mail either, but so far, that seems to be the only drawback to my upgrade.

Are you getting error messages or is stuff just refusing to load for you?

5. Adobe just won't load

but Firefox either quits while I'm attempting to navigate to another page or just won't open. I have downloaded and uninstalled Firefox 10 times. When I cannot get into firefox and try to uninstall it, I get the message that firefox is still running. But when I go to task manager it isn't showing, then when I shut down, I get the message that firefox is still running, do I want to force shut down?
My laptop works fine!

3. Wow, that sucks.

My 7 problems have so far been confined to a media card reader slot in my HP, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, and an occasional tendency to change what comes out when I'm typing, which seems to sort itself out. Firefox and Adobe are fine for me so far. Did you add Win7 or did you get a new computer with it already installed?

4. I uploaded

windows 7 but my computer is brand new. It shouldn't have any of the problems. I am so frustrated. Finally found help on Mozilla page but none of the answers/questions apply to what happens to me.

your issues do not sound hardware related. I have had no problems in Windows 7 that reflect what you are describing.

8. Check option for single or double click to start execution of a program. You may be starting two

versions and not know it.

In XP the choice is in tools->"folder options" of explorer.

9. "bing" has nothing to do with Windows 7

That is a setting in IE 8. Just go to the arrow at the top of your IE 8 screen by the magnifying glass, manage search providers. select bing by right clicking it, then 'disable suggestions'. Alternately you can replace bing with another search engine.

I have Windows 7 and am running Firefox and Adobe Acrobat & Adobe Photoshop Elements on two different computers with no problems whatsoever. I suggest you reinstall them. If for some reason you can't install them then something may have happened to your registry that may have nothing to do with Windows 7 and you may have to start from scratch with a fresh Windows 7 installation.
