| 1. Lenovo used to be IBM. |
|
All of the prebuilt ones are full of bloatware. Download PC Decrapifier and get rid of the "trial offers" garbage software, etc. http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/

I'd stick with Asus if it was my money...

| 4. Unless you need mission critical, like to run a nuke plant, buy the cheapest laptop and a used 60 GB |
|
sata hard drive for backup, also device that comes with cloning software(Vista ready). A 60GB drive will normal be big enough. Link: < http://www.amazon.com/Apricorn-EZ-UP-UNIVERSAL-Upgrade-Universal-Notebook/dp/B00009WQS1/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_3>

| 5. The problem with the cheapest is you get what you pay for. |
|
A couple of 'cheap' replacements because they break soon become more expensive than a good device bought up front.

| 7. I no longer think there is any quality difference between brands. The components are made from |
|
hundreds of back alley plants, interchangeable parts. Laptops have become an appliance. Good for about 2yrs maybe 3yrs, on parts and software.
Especially since HP has begun to ship 3.0 USB. Now more and more parts will become external devices. The laptop itself will be a shell.
