Does it freeze up shortly after starting? Is it Laptop or desktop? Does it do it with the same program (s) ? How old is your computer? Did it start freezing up AFTER you installed a certain program?? Do you know the size of Ram..Processor??

I hear a whirring sound, like it's "working" It's a PC...about 4 years old...and I had to get on my son for looking at porn.(I am afraid there may be something from the porn sites contributing to this) I don't know ram/etc...wasn't a very expensive computer,so I'm sure it's the bare minimum.

| 5. I would get a can of air and give it a good cleaning |
|
Could just be the cpu heating up and the fans working harder to keep it cool. Even if this is not the case it is always a good idea to clean out the computer every once in a while. Just remember to unplug everything first.

| 7. Right click on the Computer Icon and then pick "properties." |

That'll tell you (and us) some good information like which service pack, the rating, processor, how much memory and if you are using a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system.
IOU, so I'll follow this down. :)
You can get to this menu by clicking the old "start" button which is now a windows logo button on the bottom left corner of your screen and right clicking on the word "computer."
I apologize if this is a simplistic sounding answer, but I have no way of knowing your level of "computereze."
:)
