What is Windows Defender?

In one of those automatic updates, Window Vista installed Windows Defender on my computer. It must have happened a week ago and I believe it has dismantled my MicroTrend PC Cillin. Fortunately, I had AVAST on the computer and just turned it back on. I use to use Avast for weeks, but, something "broke" the program, so I went back to PC Cillin, and that worked for a few weeks. Now they're both down.

What can you tell me about Windows Defender?

Windows Defender? It just came up on my computer like my computer has artificial intelligence.

Are you telling me that this thing is dismantling everybody's security systems on Windows Vista?

4. If you have Vista you already have Windows Defender. Per MS site.

If you are using Windows Vista, you already have Windows Defender, although it might be turned off if you have Antivirus security software installed. To find out if Windows Defender is turned off, click on the Windows Vista Start button and type in “Windows Defender”.

5. The problem with M$ updates

is that a lot of them reset things to the default settings instead of the settings you have. This constantly screws things up.
