can i get firefox bookmark folders to be more stable?

I have so many folders in my bookmark folders now. It gets so annoying when I get two or three (or more) layers deep and then they all just disappear and I have to start over again.

I know the reasons: they disappear when a download is finished, or a page is loading, or something. But, couldn't there be an extension or something that preserves the open bookmark menus when these processes do occur?

I am no programmer, but this is my demand; is there a suppoly?
