Seems like I ought to have an answer since I develop software for Pocket PC platforms, but information is really sparse out there to start with, even moreso for Pocket PC-based phones.
I just switched providers from Sprint to Verizon because Sprint has no service in my home county. In the deal, I got a shiny new Droid (which RAWKS, btw), but now I have an otherwise useless Motorola Q9C. Yes, it'll still run whatever apps I could develop (like the stuff I write for work, deadly dull as they might be, in case I just ever jump up and decide to grab a wrench and do fleet maintenance).
I'd like to enable the WiFi, but it looks as if I'll have to jailbreak this suckah first. Teh Googly-search turns up little to nothing (lots of jailbreak stuff for iPhone and Droid). I work on Motorola Symbol Pocket PC stuff by day and years of sad experience says their support forums for ANYthing sssssssssssssssssssssssucks. (They don't even know how their own damned barcode scanners work. We had to figure that out on our own.) We've had little luck getting even the Symbol WiFi to work well (or at all) so I'm not holding out a lot of hope, but, hey, I've found my fellow DU'ers to be on the bleeding edge of information on everything else, so it's worth a shot to ask here.
I want to repurpose my Q as a nice, mild-mannered little pocket PC (hey, it's paid-for) for testing apps for work. At the worst, I can still use ActiveSync (shudder), but it would be ever so nice to turn WiFi on and put my Vonage account on it. Pipe dream, I'm sure, but if I don't ask, I'll never find out.
Thanks in advance.
