I suspect that my Normal.dot file has been compromised. It is 1.2MB in size. That seems a bit large. I am using MS Office 2003. I've run the usual malware/spyware/virus scans but nothing yet. I dropped it in the recycle bin and my computer seems to be running faster since.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

I believe that Word rebuilds it the next time you open it up. Have you checked the size of the new Normal.dot file?
I checked on my Normal.dot file size, and it's almost 900 Kb. But, I have a bunch of specialized macros and vba code that are part of the Normal.dot file.

It will probably grow slowly as some settings are changed. For example, if you create customized keyboard shortcut setups, I think that those are stored in the Normal.dot file.
