| My computer at work won't let me access my yahoo email or gmail. |
|
When I try, I get:
---------------------- We were unable to return you to yahoo.com.
IE has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem.
What you can do:
GO to your homepage
Try to return to yahoo.com
More information ---------------------------
It does go to www.yahoo.com, but when I try to login to my email, I always get the above message.
Same thing happens with my gmail account.
It isn't the network or the firewall because this doesn't happen on any machine except this one.
Any thoughts?

| 1. What happens if you try it in Firefox? |
|
If they allow that at your work, try that to see if the problem is related to the computer itself or to IE.

| 3. Do you have an I.T. department that may be blocking those pages? |
|
With the right software, they can block certain pages on specific machines.

| 4. I don't see why they'd block those pages on the booth computer, but not on the other computers. |
|
But I guess it's possible.

| 5. Is this a special computer that's in a public place |
|
Something that others may have access to?

| 7. Has your IT department looked at it? |
|
Or, is there a rule disallowing access to outside email accounts and you don't want to go to them? If you don't think they have a problem with accessing Yahoo! or Hotmail accounts, then you might find one of them to take a look - sometimes things like this are super simple fixes that are immediately apparent by looking at the computer, but since I don't have physical access to the machine it's hard for me to tell. If you don't think they'll be okay with that, we'll find a solution for you. :)
(btw, sorry it takes me so long to respond, I've been working 15 hour days this week)

| 8. I haven't had anyone to look at it. Here the procedure is to put in a "repairs request." |
|
I could do it but just for that it doesn't seem really important. However the machine does seem to have other minor issues (WOrd seems to lock up a lot), and somebody who used to work on it was geeky, and who knows what he might've done to it. So I may just report it to IT.
Thanks for your input! :hi:

| 9. The problem is solved! Yesterday a co-worker, who's more technically knowledgeable than I am, |
|
filled in for me and he told me what to do.
Go to Internet Options, Advanced tab, and click to Reset IE Options.
Thanks, everyone, for your input. :hi: :toast:
