| So I tried one of those chat support links with my ISP... |
|
I did the unthinkable and allowed a support tech have complete access to my computer to resolve an issue with e-mails. He came in on their own chat line and after downloading a software program, he came in and did all the work. The problem was resolved to my happy satisfaction, but, now I just want to be sure that the link was terminated. How do these things work? Do I have to hunt down the program that was installed on my computer and remove it? Is there a way to see if someone else is on the line?

| 1. Make sure the remote assistance box is unchecked in the remote tab of compuyer properties. |
|
A good tech would have to tell you how to set it on and at the end of the session told you how to set it off.
Depending on your OS just right click on MyComputer and regular click on properities. Then click on the remote tab and make sure the box is unchecked.
This closes off the remote assistance port to your computer.
I would then run a scan for malware.

There was a check in the box. What kind of exposure have I had all these months with that check in the box?

| 4. Thank you so much for all your help. |

I had superantispyware on the computer from the last time I had a computer mishap. For some reason my Windows Defense disabled it and did not allow it to go through a full cycle. But this time it did! Quarantined 14 questionable files. And that was after Registry booster had removed another dozen. Though, I'm sure that I got most of those files from doing searches for support to resolve my problem, and opening the wrong websites.
