| I just realized my WiFi security had been turned-off for a few months. |
|
I turned it back on, but it had been off for at least a few months.
I had "temporarily" disabled it while trying to get my Wii to talk to my router.
And then forgotten to turn it back on.
We rarely use the WiFi, but we have two desktop computers connected with network cable to the router.
How concerned should we be, and what (if anything) do I need to do now?

If anyone did access your network there isn't much you can do about it now. If you turn security back on, it will lock them out. If anyone did access it, it was probably just neighbors wanting free wi-fi.

| 3. I believe someone would have to be targeting you specifically |

IMHO, it is very unlikely you have any reason to be concerned. It is remotely possible someone could drive through your neighborhood trying to find unprotected wifi routers, and then attempt to hack into system. If you aren't very close to a road for the signals to get there then of course there's no issue at all. Even if you were, I personally think it's unlikely. People leave wifi unprotected all the time. I could log into a neighbor's wifi right now if I wanted. I'm not even sure if it is possible to get into your system even if someone did get into your wifi. Windows security probably prevents it. But in either case it seems very remote chance, less than the odds a waiter would steal your credit card number, for instance.
