| Question re: external DVD RW |
|
I have a dumb, but quick question. The DVD RW drive on my laptop has decided to die, and I'm interested in getting an external DVD RW. When I look at neweggg and other similar sites, none of them say they are win7 compatible, which is a problem because I'm running win7 on my comp. So if a DVD RW works with winNT/2000/XP/Vista, is it a safe bet it will work with 7, as well? I just don't want to spend $50 on something that I'm going to have to return.
Thanks!

| 1. I can't make guarantees, but here's how I would think about it generally: |
|
if Windows 7 comes out, and suddenly everybody who upgrades their old operating system finds their old equipment doesn't work with Windows 7, then Microsoft has tons of very angry customers and lots of bad press. So Microsoft has every incentive tio make sure that most equipment that worked under XP will still work under Windows 7: they don't have any incentive to reinvent tens of thousands of wheels for every new operating system release
Short answer: it will probably work
Exact answer: dunno. Why don't you websearch for the exact model and windows 7 to see if anybody is reporting problems? Or check the manufacturer's website for additional info. Or contact the manufacturer by email with your question ...
