Can anyone suggest a SMS text-only device?

I do not have a cell phone and I don't want one.

I have come to realize that texting comes in handy.

I have seen the Peek Pronto device that offers text and email. Looks like that might be the ticket for me. But I really don't need full email access. Just being able to text would be fine and if I could do that for less than the Peek Pronto, that would be great. I don't want my email, with all the spam and such. Just texting would be perfect.

If anyone knows of a good SMS text-only service/device that is cheap and reliable, please let me know.
