I now have my desktop hooked up to the internet, but I'm having some issues

I'm back on the internet at home now, but I have a pokey connection (0.69 Mbps download speed, 1.58 Mbps upload). I still have some kinks to work out, and I need help with a Facebook issue.

When I log in, I cannot get any of the notifications to load. I can go to my friends' profiles and view the current status quickly, but I cannot get the entire page to display. If I click on the "Info" tab, I'm OK; but the profile -- forget it.

Oh, and the chat function works just fine.

I'm not able to access Facebook Help. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Oh, and if it's relevant -- I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3.
