Forgive me a really stupid question

My dad suggested a program today called CCleaner. Said it's worked very well for him over a fairly long period of time.

Looks like it's highly rated on CNet.

So... here's the stupid: if I run this, and it cleans things up (good), will that include the cookies that hold my logins and passwords?

Honest to goodness, between being of a certain age now, and the medicine I'm taking, my memory can be for *&^%, and I don't know if I'm going to remember them all each time - my browser's got them saved, and I like it that way!

1. You should have them backed up anyway

If you're using Firefox, install the https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109/">FEBE extension. It will create a backup of your entire browser profile: extensions, themes, bookmarks, passwords, cookies... even your zoom level preferences.

But thanks, that's great! I assume I could then import them back into Chrome from that?

(Firefox has been getting really slow and cranky for me)

3. In CCleaner

There's a Windows tab and an Application tab.

Make sure the things you don't want cleaned are unticked, such as Cookies, internet history etc in either Firefox or IE.

4. After you've downloaded it,

go to options & then cookies. There's a handy dandy arrow that you can move to keep cookies. It's self explanatory because even an idiot like me can make it work.

6. I use CCleaner and FireFox.

After running CCleaner I have to Log In to DU. But the Log In page is already filled out.

I'm not complaining, but I'm not sure why that is. I don't use any of the optional settings or extensions mentioned so far on this thread.

Like, you have an older version of CCleaner that doesn't recognize your version of Firefox? Or your totally new version of CCleaner hasn't yet caught up with your totally new version of Firefox?

Well, like is said, it could be that CCleaner hasn't yet caught up to the newest version of Firefox. Then again, it might have to do with whether or not you have Firefox set to save your passwords. I'm not sure how that works or looks because I choose not to use that option.

And I see that my Firefox browser is set to retain passwords.

So both explain why I have to login after to CCleaning, and why the login page is auto-filled.

8. When it comes to passwords

I never store them in that special storing thingy that my browsers provides. I use form-filler outer software and I also keep a text file of my passwords in a private folder on my Google Document Storage account.

I give each button a special name so only I know what it is. Each button is one of my passwords.

You can also use Typeitin as a form-filler-outer too but like I said, I use it for passwords.
