My browser had slowed down to a crawl, to the point that It was painful waiting for pages to load (15 sec to 1 minute or more).
A friend clued my in that it was Adobe flash animations that were slowing everything down. He suggested I install Firefox flash blocker, which I did.
Man, the difference is startling. It's like having a brand new machine!
Unbelievable!
Now I am really pissed at Adobe.

But there are plenty of business websites that use flash for everything and anything on their pages.
