Need help with my router, please.

Recently, my ancient Lexmark printer croaked. I want to get a new wireless printer, but before I do that, I need to do something about my router.

While I was separated from my husband, he discontinued our Time Warner phone and internet service. When he returned the modem, I believe he also took the power cord for the router, because I can't find it.

When the Time Warner guy came out to restore internet service, he said that it would be nearly impossible to find a power cord for the Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz 54 Mbps broadband router. He added that I would be better off with something from Netgear.

So how do I choose the proper router? I have no idea how to begin. Thank you! :hi:

1. You should be able to find

A power adapter. It's a very popular router. See here (Amazon). Third row down, number 3 on the right.

Did the cable guy say exactly HOW you would be better off with a Netgear router? Thought not :) Look, Netgear makes good stuff, I have some but your router gets good reviews, is fast and easy to set up.

I'm assuming you have cable internet as many ADSL modems double as a router. If it turns out you need to purchase a new router, here are a couple of links to reviews. 2. I found the power cord!

The lightbulb went on over my head :think: and I realized I had seen it on the closet shelf!! So now I'm in the process of figuring out how to update the firmware and get the router functional again. Oh, and to answer your question: No, cable guy did *not* say why I would be better off with a Netgear router! ;)

3. Well, you can try Linksys online

but you really will be better off with Netgear and the price differential between buying the cord and paying the shipping might not be all that staggering.
