Got machine back from 'xperts

after a serious infection. So I have been running AVG for years, but now that it's failed, which is the flavor of the month? (AKA what is the good virus checker right now?)

1. I know it's not popular around here

but I've used McAfee for years and it's worked well for me.

How resource heavy it is? That is the gaming rig after all.

Intel's looking to buy them out which may be a good thing or bad thing.

I know a lot of people using the free ones and they have had bad virus problems.

3. Microsoft's free offering - Security Essentials - is pretty good.

I've been installing it on friends' computers for awhile now and it seems to do fairly well.

A/V & Firewall. Seems alright to me. I like the firewall too.
