so my laptop speakers just quit working

I wasn't doing anything at all, the laptop (a 9 month old Toshiba) was sitting 5 feet away from me. I was just letting it play music and recharge my iPod, and the music stopped. I couldn't get any system sounds, either.

So I checked the sound driver, and it needed an update. Still no sound. I finally decide to plug in my headphones, and there's sound that way.

The computer has been restarted several times. In the past, I had a problem with one of the speakers going quiet that I could fix by adjust the volume up and down, but that hasn't happened in a while.

It doesn't seem very hot, either. Any help would be appreciated.

they just started working again. No idea. Crisis averted.

2. The problem could be in the headset jack.

Try plugging the headset plug in and out a several times. There's a set of transfer contacts inside
that switches the audio from one direction to the other. The connection might be a little bit wonky.
