| Yet another laptop recommendation request |
|
Well, my 3 paycheck month is finally here, and there have been no disasters in my life recently, so it looks like I can get a new laptop!
It will be replacing a Dell Latitude D505 with 1GB, 1.7 ghz Pentimu M processor.
After I get this new laptop, at some point, I'll install a SSD. So for now, I don't know if I should opt for a consumer model in the $500 range, or get something slightly better in the $700 range. Either way, I'll get an extended warranty.
The primary use is web development. Those IDEs can use resources, plus a lot of simple image editing and file copying.
Do you think a Core 2 duo would be enough of a difference over what I already have, or should I look at the newer Quad core, i5, or AMD Phenom II processors?
Plus, does anyone know if I can affordably find one with a screen resolution greater than 768 vertically?

Get a lower end ,Core 2 Duo or something, and later, if it isn't robust enough, swap out the drive for a SSD. I believe I can get on for $199. I don't need alot of storage.
