Firefox Wont Start

I have started to have this problem on two computers.
I right click on the Firefox icon, then click open.
Nothing happens.
I was beginning to think it may be a hardware issue, but not on two computers.
I have had the slow close of Firefox issue for some time.
However, I have not had to restart the computer, nor even use task manager to close it. On the second try of starting it, is opens.
Except for these times when I right click on open, get an hourglass for a few seconds, then nothing. Usually after about 5 or 6 such false starts, then it starts.
Any ideas?

1. Plenty of ideas

-Corrupt profile
-Dodgy Firefox extension/Theme/
-PC/Windows issue not related to Firefox
-Firefox trying to connect to do something ie submit crash report, update etc

If this was me, I'd be backing up bookmarks only (use MozBackup or inbuilt utility in Organise Bookmarks) and giving some serious thought to uninstalling with Revo, using the advanced option and re-installing Firefox.

2. Reinstalling was my suggestion

and being very, very careful which extensions and themes are installed. Some of them, like Stumble, are well written and frequently updated. Others are, well, not.

3. Well it wouldn't work at all today. So I did a reinstall. Let me see

if that does it.
