| Anyone ever get some stupid fake Google page? |
|
I use my son-ion-law's pc and every now and then while surfing in IE, I'll get what looks like a fake Google search page. It's obviously some ploy to try to get me to go to some url that would do god only knows what. My SIL has done virus scans and all that, but it still pops up every now and then. It doesn't seem to matter what site I'm in, either. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Thanks.

This is my son-in-law's PC, so I don't have a say in which browser he uses. How do we get rid of this malware?

| 3. I don't know any particular virus, there are millions |

Generally I believe that virus writers are clever, so the moment I see a virus, my first reaction is to reformat the computer. Back up you data and reformat using a recovery disk or OS disk if you have one. Sorry if that sounds like a lot of trouble, but viruses are very hard to remove. People will give you tons of instructions that, even if they worked, would take longer than reformatting.
